With homes dating back as early as the mid 1920's, Overland Avenue boasts an unparalleled level of old charm and natural beauty, which is why many of its residents have lived here for decades and why so many come here to raise their families. However, population and commercial growth in the area has brought about painfully dangerous conditions on our street.
In the 1970's, residents fought the city's plans to widen Overland. Thankfully, we won that fight. Over the years, long-time residents have been corresponding with city officials, the Department of Transportation, and the LAPD; voicing their concerns about the escalating occurence of speeding, accidents, and various traffic violations on our street.
Unfortunately, our neighbors' requests and demands for traffic mitigation were not met in time to prevent the tragic death of our friend and neighbor, Richard Rowan. Angered and saddened, the residents of Overland are once again coming together to bring about action that will soon make our street a safe place to live.
